The Transmission Company of Nigeria has declared Force Majeure on the 132kV Birnin Kebbi–Niamey Transmission Line following the collapse of three transmission towers. The company said the incident occurred on 26 August 2026 at 17:38hrs, when the transmission line tripped. A trial reclosure was subsequently carried out at 18:03hrs, but the line tripped again immediately.
